The Journey

My First Cup of Cold Brew

My Coffee Journey began at a visit to Stumptown Coffee in Downtown Los Angeles and trying my first cup of Cold Brew Coffee. The unique and deep taste of cold brew really got me intrigued because I had thought that coffee was supposed to be bitter and cream and sugar was a must to make it drinkable.

Coffee Convention

I wanted to take my coffee journey beyond the visits to the coffee shops so I attended a Coffee Convention in Anaheim and my wife (girlfriend at that time), signed me up for a raffle to win a Toddy Cold Brew system with 10 lbs of coffee. Towards the end of the event, we were told that we had won!

My First Batch

After doing some research about ratio, brew time, and grind size, I made my first big batch of cold brew and to my surprise, it tasted amazing. I decided to bottle the cold brew and share with my friends and family.

Bottle Deliveries and Selling Coffee in the neighborhood

After many compliments about the great tasting cold brew, I decided to start my own business of selling cold brew bottles. And on June 16, 2018, I stepped out of my comfort zone and set up a table in front of our apartment, and started selling cold brew and mixed drinks.

Coffee Catering

After seeing my Instagram post, one of my friends asked if I can do coffee catering for his wedding. I thought that this would be a great way to expand my business, and I started catering for events and weddings. I eventually made my own cart with the help of a close friend and catering has become a big part of the business!

I am very grateful for my friends and family who have supported me in my coffee journey and I could not have gotten to where I am today if it wasn’t for them.

The Vision

Advancing the Kingdom with Every Sip

For most of us, coffee is a big part of our everyday routine. Coffee first, as many people would say and the rest of the day afterwards. Here at Ethnos, we want our coffee to go beyond the daily caffeine fix.

Coffee comes from many different parts of the world and that is what makes coffee unique. That is how we got the name “Ethnos” which means “nations” in Greek. Your cup of coffee was farmed, washed, roasted, and brewed and has gone through the required steps to end up as a freshly brewed cup in your mug. Our mission is to turn your first cup of coffee into something more meaningful. At Ethnos Coffee, we turn every sip into a blessing to our beloved missionaries around the world by supporting them financially and through prayer.

As we smell the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and take each sip, let’s remember to pray for our beloved missionaries who are advancing God’s Kingdom by sharing God’s love and spreading the Gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ.
